First Steps in Fly Tying: Children Mastered the Basics of making flies

  • News

At the last session of the Fly Fishing School, we worked on the basics of feathering/fly tying – one of the most important segments of fly fishing. The children were introduced to basic materials such as feathers, thread, and hooks, as well as the tools used in making artificial flies, and through hands-on practice they learned the first steps of tying.

After the instructor’s demonstration, they held the tools in their hands for the first time and tried to make their very first fly. Although feathering/fly tying is a demanding and precise process that requires patience and attention, they showed great dedication, focus, and creativity.

We are especially pleased with their courage to try something new and the effort they put into every detail. This session represents an important step in their learning process, as it not only builds new skills but also develops perseverance, precision, and a love for fly fishing and nature.

This activity was carried out within the initiative United for Rivers, which brings together organizations and communities across Southeast Europe with the goal of protecting and preserving our rivers.#UnitedForRivers #Buna #Bunica #Mostar #Nature #ProtectOurRivers #LocalCommunity #NatureLovers #EnvironmentalProtection #BalkanRivers #RiversMeanLife #FlyFishing #CitizenScience #NoviValBlagaj #BunaRiver
