Bosnia and Herzegovina Has a New European Champion – Aleksandar Đukić

The 30th European Fly Fishing Championship was successfully held from 22 to 28 June 2026, marking the first time this prestigious event has taken place in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The championship was hosted by USR Neretva 1933 Mostar and EUSR Livno, under the organization of FIPS-Mouche and the Sport Fishing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition was held on the Buna River, Sturba River, and Mostar Lake, bringing together 20 national teams from across Europe.

The championship was successfully organized thanks to the joint efforts of the organizers, hosts, and the many individuals involved in delivering this demanding international sporting event. We extend our sincere gratitude to all national and international judges, supervisors, sector judges, volunteers, hosts, and members of the organizing committee whose professionalism, dedication, and hard work made the successful organization of the championship possible.

The greatest sporting achievement for Bosnia and Herzegovina came from national team member Aleksandar Đukić, who claimed the individual European Championship title after five competition sessions, winning the gold medal. This remarkable result represents one of the greatest achievements in the history of Bosnian and Herzegovinian fly fishing.

In the team competition, the Czech Republic won the European Championship title, followed by Portugal in second place and Spain in third.

The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina finished in 5th place among the 20 competing nations, achieving one of its best team results in the history of the European Fly Fishing Championships.

Hosting the European Championship provided an outstanding opportunity to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina, its exceptional natural heritage, and its outstanding fly fishing destinations. The competition venues on the Buna River, Sturba River, and Mostar Lake once again confirmed their excellent conditions for hosting international fly fishing competitions.
