Preservation and Protection of the Buna and Bunica Rivers through Education
As part of the Fly Fishing School activities, led by Novi Val Blagaj and the Sport Fishing Association Neretva 1933, participants have the opportunity to take part in practical water quality monitoring of the Buna and Bunica rivers, with a special focus on the fish population. Through learning methods for monitoring river conditions, young participants develop environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility toward nature, gaining knowledge that enables them to actively contribute to the preservation of aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity.
The activities of the Fly Fishing School also encourage teamwork, critical thinking, and practical research skills. “Our mission is to involve young people in river conservation and provide them with knowledge they can use in environmental protection. Through fish and water quality monitoring, participants learn how important it is to preserve natural resources for future generations,” the organizers emphasize.
This activity was implemented as part of the United for Rivers initiative, which brings together organizations and communities across Southeast Europe with the goal of protecting and preserving our rivers.
