Let’s stop dumping waste in our rivers.

Ecological Association Majski cvijet is organizing the collection of over 15,000 pieces of PET packaging for recycling in Sarajevo on Friday, October 14, 2022. Through this initiative, we want to inform the public and all relevant institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to urgently find suitable legal solutions for the purchase of PET waste per piece, in order to motivate residents not to throw this waste into our rivers. We emphasize that the pollution and danger posed by the large amounts of waste found in our rivers pose a threat to the lives of humans, as well as the plant and animal world.

“The state of Bosnia and Herzegovina must stand up for the environment and the health of its residents and do everything to achieve adequate solutions for this area of waste management. Ecological organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina have gathered around one goal: to protect the environment in BiH and support local communities and organizations fighting against harmful activities, such as this example.

We continue our fight on the ground against illegal waste dumping in our rivers, and we urge the city of Mostar and the municipal inspection to strengthen their activities in the field and to file criminal charges against vandals who act unlawfully in achieving their goal – we will not stop until it is prevented, for the sake of our natural heritage.
