Penalty for use of plastic bags in Montenegro up to 20.000 euro

The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro has introduced a ban on plastic disposable bags used at various outlets. Advisor at the Directorate for Waste Management and Municipal Development, Igor Jovanovic, said that the offenders were subject to severe penalties for the use of plastic bags.

The draft law provides for fines for non-compliance and provisions for legal and natural persons, as well as for entrepreneurs. Fines range from 500 euros to 20,000 euros for a legal entity, from 500 euros to 6,000 euros for entrepreneurs, from 30 euros to 2,000 euros for an individual – explained Jovanovic. The Montenegrin Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has decided on this step in order to achieve permanent reduction of environmental pollution with plastic bags, CdM reports.

Plastic bags have a negative impact on the whole environment, the accumulation of plastic bags in a certain place leads primarily to environmental pollution, which has an impact on plants and animals as well as humans, it is very important to understand the danger that is threatened by plastic bags and generally plastics!
