Sports Fishing Federation of BiH: Mostar to Host the 2026 European Fly Fishing Championship

The Sports Fishing Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is proud to announce that our country has been awarded the organization of the 2026 European Fly Fishing Championship, which will be held in Mostar, on the Buna and Neretva rivers.

This decision was made by the international FIPS-Mouche association and represents a significant recognition for Bosnian-Herzegovinian sport fishing and our Federation.

We remind the public that Mostar already hosted the 2023 World Youth Fly Fishing Championship, which was rated as one of the best-organized competitions of that period. That success paved the way for Bosnia and Herzegovina to once again welcome the top fly fishing teams of Europe.

The Buna and Neretva rivers, widely known for their natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and abundance of native fish species, will provide the perfect stage for a showdown among Europe’s finest competitors. More than 20 national teams are expected to participate, making this a major sporting, tourism, and promotional event for Mostar, Herzegovina, and the entire country.

The awarding of the European Fly Fishing Championship to Bosnia and Herzegovina once again confirms that our country has the capacity and expertise to host the most demanding international sporting events.
This is a tribute to all the anglers, volunteers, and institutions who have contributed to the growth and recognition of sport fishing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We are confident that Mostar will proudly welcome all of Europe in 2026.
