FISHERS WARN THE CASTROPHAL CONSEQUENCES OF THE PLANT AND ANIMAL WORLD OF BUŠKO LAKE
The Busko Lake Environmental Fisheries Association (EUSR) on Thursday warned of a constant loss of Busko Lake water levels over the past few months.
They point out that there is currently a large amount of fish in the lake (hundreds of tons), and that the lack of oxygen will cause it to die, and thus in the surrounding areas will cause an unpleasant odor due to the decay process of the dead fish.
They recall that the Buška Lake area is a karst area and that the water from the lake sinks and reaches underground in the Republic of Croatia, and some of these sources are also used to supply the local population with drinking water, which can also affect sources of various infections.
They require that a 24-hour monitoring of the lake be mandatory during the lake's descent, in collaboration with HEP and the future recreational fishing concessionaire, to eliminate potential poaching and to ensure that offenders are properly punished.
